Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention
This Standard applies to trucks and MPVs with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. (4,536 kg) or less. However, it does not apply to walk-in, van-type vehicles. It specifies requirements for a key-locking mechanism that prevents starting of the vehicle and either locks the steering, transmission or both. It also requires a warning signal when the key is left in the ignition and the driver’s door is opened.
