
NTEA membership is company-based, which means all employees of a company may be added to the company record and access member benefits. Join online
- Create an account. Be sure to add a company and select a membership type before completing your account profile (see below to learn more about membership types).
- Once you’ve completed your account setup, select the Join/Renew option in the Company Membership section of My Profile.
- Complete the checkout and payment process.

Membership types
Distributor/Upfitter
A business or entity engaged principally in purchasing truck bodies, truck-mounted equipment, trailers or component parts from manufacturers of such items for installation and resale to users and truck dealers. May also be referred to as upfitter, final-stage manufacturer or installer.
Manufacturer
A business or entity that manufactures truck bodies, truck-mounted equipment, trailers or other types of vehicle systems such as engines, axles, drivelines, transmissions, PTOs, etc.
Associate
- Truck Dealer
A business or entity responsible for the retail or commercial sale of complete or incomplete vehicles.
- Truck Fleet
A business, government agency or other entity in operation of multiple vehicles in support of their services. Typical examples include utilities, public works, construction, public transport, delivery, emergency services, etc.
- Chassis Manufacturer
To qualify as a Chassis Manufacturer, a company must (1) either produce vehicles for retail sale or upfitter alteration that are certified as a complete vehicle under NHTSA or Transport Canada regulations (“Complete Vehicles”), or produce chassis with a NHTSA or Transport Canada IVD for upfitting (“IVD Chassis”), and (2) have delivered at least 100 Complete Vehicles for retail sale or 100 IVD Chassis for upfitting.
- Leasing Company
A business or entity that owns vehicle or equipment assets and leases them out to other parties, who make periodic payments for the right to use them, rather than purchasing the assets outright.
- Business Service Provider
A business or entity in support of the industry but is not directly responsible for the upfitting or manufacture of vehicles or equipment, or sales of vehicles. Includes companies such as marketing agencies, industry consultants, financial institutions, research firms, software providers, insurance agencies, associations, etc.
- Component Parts Supplier
A business or entity that manufactures or provides the individual parts or materials that are used to assemble a larger vehicle-based product or system.
- Manufacturing and Shop Supplier
A business or entity that manufactures or sells equipment, machinery, tools, or consumables for manufacturing or fabrication processes.
- Manufacturer Representative
A business or entity involved in the sales representation of manufacturing firms in the industry.
- Distributor/Upfitter Branch
A secondary location of a business or entity engaged principally in purchasing truck bodies, truck-mounted equipment, trailers or component parts from manufacturers of such items for installation and resale to users and truck dealers. May also be referred to as upfitter, final-stage manufacturer, or installer. To qualify as a Distributor/Upfitter Branch, the location must be affiliated with an active Distributor/Upfitter Main membership.
- Manufacturer Brand
A secondary division or brand owned by a current Manufacturer Main member that acts as a separate business or entity that manufactures truck bodies, truck-mounted equipment, trailers, or other types of vehicle systems such as engines, axles, drivelines, transmissions, PTOs, etc. To qualify as a Manufacturer Brand, the secondary division or brand must be affiliated with an active Manufacturer Main membership.
