Rear-end protection requirements for straight trucks

NTEA members are routinely questioned by customers on the configuration of rear-end protection devices installed on vehicles built for them — often, after the vehicle has already gone through an annual or periodic inspection by an official. These questions typically arise because there are different requirements for straight trucks than for trailers manufactured after January 1998.
