Lightweighting for electric vehicles

Many fleets are adopting lightweighting as a solution to allow for moving down in vehicle class to a 10,000-pound or less GVWR. Modern EVs have been shown to have a heavier curb weight than an equivalent chassis with an internal combustion engine. The lightweighting technique is being employed for EV applications to enable improved range while allowing for full payloads.
