LED lights and bulb outage detection

LED turn signal lamps and bulb outage detection can be challenging for upfitters. FMVSS 108 requires bulb outage detection for turn signal lamps for all vehicles 80 inches or less in overall width. LED lamps normally have amperage that is too low and/or a resistance level that prevents proper function with the existing lamp outage detection systems on most work truck chassis. However, the FMVSS 108 requirement for lamp outage detection does allow specific exceptions.
