Frost law

The spring thaw brings seasonal load restrictions on roadways, particularly in northern states. Known throughout the industry as frost law, these restrictions help reduce damage to roads when they are most susceptible due to roadbed saturation from melting ice and snow. The freeze-thaw cycle during this time of year can also induce pothole formation.
