FMVSS 216a: Roof crush resistance; upgraded standard

FMVSS 216a is an upgraded roof crush test, which came into effect for multi-stage manufactured vehicles in two phases. The effective date for new requirements under the standard was Sept. 1, 2016, for vehicles with a GVWR of 6,000 pounds or less, while additional requirements for vehicles with a GVWR up to 10,000 pounds took effect one year later.
