F/CMVSS 111 – mirrors and rear visibility systems

Rear visibility systems requirements for multi-stage vehicles began in May 2017, and took full effect in May 2018 in the U.S. Transport Canada allowed an effective date for vehicles manufactured in Canada to occur one year later due to the complexity of locating cameras on vocational vehicles. These requirements apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less.
