Emergency equipment for CMVs

FMCSA requires all power units (i.e., trucks, truck tractors and buses), except those used in driveaway-towaway operations, to be equipped with certain emergency equipment items. FMCSA regulations apply to the motor carriers operating commercial motor vehicles, not the manufacturers building them. Knowing that vehicle end-users will need to meet these requirements, it’s common for customers to include these items in their vehicle specifications to help ensure they are ready to be put into service.
