Dump body equipment requirements

When summer and the subsequent road construction season arrive, NTEA receives a rise in calls and emails regarding the building of dump trucks. Many member questions revolve around backup alarms, dump body props, cab shields, body up lights, and placement and function of dump body controls — and determining when these items are required. Many upfitters are checking the FMVSS or Motor Carrier Regulations and cannot find any requirements for these types of equipment.
