Commercial motor vehicle width

The technical services department receives questions on vehicle dimensional limits, including width. Such requirements involving infrastructure on the National Network of Interstate Freeways are promulgated by Federal Highway Administration. Enforcement takes place through Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and applicable state agencies. These are uniform rules designed to enable vehicles within these size limitations to safely operate across all federally-funded freeways.
