Adding rear seats to cargo vans

As new vans enter the market, members have questions on requirements for adding seats to the back of cargo vans. This changes the vehicle’s profile from transporting goods to also carrying additional people, increasing the number and scope of applicable FMVSS. As most cargo vans have a 10,000-pound or less GVWR, pertinent standards include dynamic and/or destructive testing requirements.
