Demers Ambulances debuted its most advanced Type I ambulance to date—the all-new FXP 174 at EMS World Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. This breakthrough model is ready for demonstration as Demers Ambulances invites EMS professionals to experience a reimagined approach to ambulance design firsthand at booth #1200 in the Indiana Convention Center. Purpose-built to transform the way emergency crews work, the FXP 174 elevates safety, ergonomics, and comfort, while introducing a first-of-its-kind innovation—the exclusive FX Action Seats, which set a new standard for responder mobility and advanced patient care.

“Every detail of an ambulance directly impacts first responder safety, well-being, and ability to deliver life-saving care,” said Kris Turner, Channel Development Director, U.S. “That’s why every Demers design begins with first responders at the forefront, and the FXP 174 is no exception. This new model is shaped by extensive field expertise and customer feedback, and it introduces our exclusive FX Action Seats, an innovation allowing emergency responders to remain safe and secure, while maintaining full mobility to support patients—setting a new standard for ‘safe’ patient care, ergonomic design, and operational efficiency. With the FXP 174, we’ve reimagined what an ambulance can be, pushing beyond conventional layouts to deliver a forward-thinking, intuitive solution that anticipates the evolving needs of EMS professionals today and into the future.”
The FXP 174 redefines the Type I category with its thoughtfully engineered, ergonomic design that reflects decades of industry expertise and direct customer feedback. Available on Ford F-450 gas and diesel chassis, this model measures 174” in length, 95” in width, and delivers 72” of interior headroom. Its distinctive door-forward layout enhances workflow efficiency, increases available workspace, and streamlines crew movement throughout the patient compartment.
At the heart of the FXP 174 are the FX Action Seats, a first-of-its-kind seating innovation engineered specifically for first responders. The seats’ ergonomic design reduces fatigue and improves workflow, while its intuitive structure allows responders to stabilize themselves using their legs, freeing their hands for patient care. Positioned near the stretcher, the seats enable first responders always to remain buckled without compromising access to the patient or medical equipment. The seat’s emergency lock is tested to withstand 26G acceleration, further enhancing safety, while its integrated belt with occupant sensors increases driver awareness. This transformative seating solution ensures responders can safely perform critical tasks while maintaining mobility and comfort.
The FXP 174 also delivers a host of other industry-leading innovations. Taller rear doors make entry & exit more ergonomic for the crew. An advanced lighting system with breakthrough flash patterns provides unmatched visibility, while windows on both the curbside and street side increase visibility and situational awareness. Triple D-bottle storage is conveniently accessible from the C2 curbside door, and an easy-access exterior compartment simplifies maintenance of the MMC Multiplex Electrical System.
Inside, a clinical layout design prioritizes ergonomics, with seating, storage, and workstations arranged to allow crews an optimized workflow, enabling better, safer patient care. The Single Click 4-Point Seatbelt system enhances safety by providing paramedics with the flexibility to stand while remaining buckled.
Additional enhancements include an ultrawide electric pass-through window that improves visibility and communication between the cab and module while reducing noise with its sealed barrier when closed. Linear RGBW lighting in the ceiling and cabinets provides adjustable, multi-color options and intensities to suit various environments and preferences. Comfort is also enhanced thanks to a dual HVAC ducted diffusion system, which separates hot and cold airflow to ensure an optimal patient care environment.
The FXP 174 reflects Demers Ambulances’ ongoing commitment to address the everyday challenges faced by EMS professionals by engaging directly with our customers. Every feature is thoughtfully designed to support crews in the field, with a focus on safety, comfort, and ergonomics that work seamlessly together to improve both the responder and patient experience.
