Q: What could immediately deliver value to a member (or potential member) of Generation Next?
One of the most immediately valuable — yet often underestimated — benefits of Generation Next is the power of networking. The work truck industry is a close-knit and often under-the-radar community made up of professionals from remarkably diverse backgrounds. Connecting with other members and learning about their career paths, challenges, and successes has provided me with insights that I would have never gained on my own. These conversations are invaluable in helping you navigate your own professional journey.
Q: How have you utilized the resources available to Generation Next members to enhance your own professional growth in the work truck industry?
The training and educational resources available through Generation Next are top-notch. For anyone new to the industry, I highly recommend the Truck Equipment 101 (TE101) and 201 (TE201) courses. They’re designed to help you grasp both the foundational concepts and industry-specific terminology in a format that’s easy to understand. Best of all, the courses are self-paced, so you can work through them on your schedule. It’s a practical way to build your knowledge and confidence early on.
Q: Can you share a specific example of how being a part of Generation Next has helped you in your current role?
Joining Generation Next was a turning point in my engagement with NTEA as a whole. Before becoming a member, I wasn’t fully aware of all the training and networking opportunities the Association offers. Now, I actively participate in events like Work Truck Week, Executive Leadership Summit, and Commercial Vehicle Upfitting Summit. Each event offers unique, targeted content and unmatched networking opportunities that have helped me build relationships and stay informed in my role.
Q: What advice would you give to others who are considering joining Generation Next?
There is absolutely no downside to joining. It’s free, it’s easy, and it opens doors to a wealth of professional resources and peer connections. Generation Next creates a welcoming space where you can ask questions, share experiences, and find others who are navigating similar challenges. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next steps in your career, it’s an incredibly supportive community.
Q: As someone who has been involved in this dynamic industry for a while, what trends or changes do you see shaping the work truck industry, and how can Generation Next help prepare its members for those changes?
I’ve always appreciated the saying, “The only constant is change,” and it couldn’t be more true in the work truck industry. Every year brings new developments — whether it's technological innovations, customer demands or regulatory shifts. One of the most significant trends is the continued evolution of alternative fuels, including electrification, hybrid solutions and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Generation Next helps members stay on top of these changes by offering access to timely education, industry insights, and a strong peer network — all of which are critical to staying competitive and future-ready.
