As a business owner in (insert your city) and member of NTEA – The Association for the Work Truck Industry, I ask you to support S. 694, A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the excise tax on heavy trucks and trailers, and for other purposes.
This legislation would repeal the 100-year-old 12% federal sales tax on heavy trucks — the largest excise tax levied by Congress.
Eliminating this tax and replacing it with an alternative funding mechanism for the Highway Trust Fund would encourage economic growth and allow purchasers to invest in domestically produced trucks with the latest environmental and safety technologies.
