NTEA recently caught up with Tony Androsuk, partner at Southern Truck Equipment Inc. (STE), a distributor member in Almont, Michigan.
Tony joined forces with Doug Charbeneau in 2011 to found STE. Five years later, they purchased the former Almont Airport, which features 16 acres, five buildings and more than 25,000 square feet of space. They quickly went to work, retrofitting airplane hangars into a shop, showroom, offices and warehouses. This summer, the company completed installation of a new state-of-the-art 55-foot paint booth.
In recent years, STE’s product line has grown tremendously, providing innovative products customers need to maintain and utilize their fleets year-round. Company offerings have evolved due to STE’s ability to accommodate an entire build (including spray liner and accessories), carry full lines and keep most jobs in-house for quality control purposes.
STE supports Michigan’s commercial and municipal truck equipment market through sales, service, and installation of new and used work truck bodies, snow and ice equipment, and aftermarket accessories. It’s a servicing dealer and parts provider for light- to heavy-duty truck equipment that includes full custom truck builds down to handcrafted hydraulic systems. STE’s expert truck equipment services involve electrical troubleshooting and installation of truck bodies, specialized equipment and hydraulic hose/cylinder work. The business functions as a one-stop-shop for everything related to commercial vehicles.
The company is focused on delivering quality products and workmanship with a customer service orientation. Its staff of about 20 trained experts (including technicians certified by American Welding Society) is passionate about helping customers create the truck needed for the job, always going above and beyond to provide practical customization options. The company’s mission is building commercial trucks that can sustain rugged conditions for a full life-cycle. For every job, the team is focused on getting customers back in business as quickly as possible, with products designed to last. At STE, it doesn’t matter whether a customer’s business is large or small. “We’re small enough to listen and big enough to deliver,” said Androsuk.

STE has been an NTEA member since 2011 and is part of the Association’s Member Verification Program (ntea.com/mvp), which recognizes eligible companies in the work truck industry for outstanding business practices and successful implementation of quality standards.
The company recently received several honors, including the 2017 Michigan Green Industry Association Supplier of the Year Award.
