The Work Truck Show® 2010 and 46th Annual NTEA Convention in St. Louis, MO exceeded expectations with well more than 8,000 industry professionals in attendance, an impressive achievement in such a challenged economy. America’s Center was sold out by the 525 exhibitors who filled the Main Hall and Edward Jones Dome with an exciting array of new vocational trucks, components and equipment. Leading truck manufacturers chose this venue to introduce high-profile new vehicles to the world and there were more than 80 new products introduced at the show.
The NTEA expanded its Green Truck Summit to two days (March 9-10) this year and partnered with CALSTART, a California based organization that has been at the forefront of the development of clean commercial vehicles. Each year, the NTEA strives to provide participants with the highest-quality education and training during the annual Convention. Attendees had the unique opportunity to drive or ride in cutting-edge green vehicles on the streets of St. Louis at the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive sponsored by Freightliner Trucks. Held on March 10 and 11, the Ride-and-Drive featured 15 the newest technologies in hybrid and alternative fuel work trucks. Read detailed information on the 2010 participating vehicles.
The Work Truck Show kicked off on Tuesday, March 9 with an Opening Reception at the America’s Center facility. Just over 1,300 guests enjoyed the opportunity to foster industry relationships.
On Thursday, March 11, Emmy-award winning actor and legend William Shatner served as the keynote speaker at the President’s Breakfast. Drawing on his own life experiences, Shatner shared his keys to taking on challenges and risks in life and in business.
Also during the President’s Breakfast & NTEA Annual Meeting, Andrew Outcalt, President of Meyer Products LLC and Swenson Spreader LLC (Cleveland, OH), passed the gavel to incoming NTEA President Allen Birmingham, National Sales Manager, Tommy Gate Co. (Phoenix, AZ). Birmingham, in turn, thanked Outcalt for his outstanding leadership and vision. Birmingham now serves as the 46th president of the NTEA.
