Question from an NTEA member
Our fleet and end user partners are requesting we provide additional equipment they require on their vehicles as a motor carrier, such as fire extinguishers. What items do they need to have along these lines?
This is a common question as customers want vehicles delivered to various locations, equipped to meet motor carrier requirements. Upfitters are primarily focused on their responsibilities as manufacturers to certify vehicles and comply with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations. However, their motor carrier customers must maintain compliance with regulations from Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), an agency counterpart within the Department of Transportation.
