Transport Canada Recall #2020396
Manufacturer Recall Number W57
Units Affected  2,111
Category Truck - Med. & H.D.
Recall Details
Issue: On certain chassis cab trucks equipped with a Cummins 6.7 L high-output engine, a software problem could cause damage to the connecting rod bearings while the engine is warming up. As a result, a connecting rod could break and cause an engine failure. If this happens, oil could leak onto hot components in the engine compartment. Note: A driver may notice abnormal engine noise if a connecting rod fails. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, an engine failure could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the engine calibration software. This will add enhanced engine warm-up protection.

Issue: On certain trucks, the lift axle pivot bolts may be too short and may not be properly tightened. As a result, the bolts could come loose or break. If this happens, parts could fall from the truck. Note: This recall only affects trucks built with Watson Chalin SL2065 lift axles. Safety Risk: Large fasteners that fall on the road could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect and replace the lift axle pivot bolts, as necessary.

If this happens, the truck may not slow down when the driver releases the accelerator pedal. Note: If the driver continues to brake, the brake-throttle override system will close the throttle opening and allow the driver to stop the truck. Safety Risk: A stuck accelerator pedal could lead to unintended acceleration of the truck and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to modify the all-weather floor mat. This will reduce the chance of contact with the accelerator pedal. You should remove the driver’s all-weather floor mat until this recall is completed.
