Issue: On certain trucks, the connecting rod bushings could fail due to a manufacturing defect. This could cause an engine failure that can result in a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a stalled vehicle could also increase the risk of crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue: On certain trucks, an undersized wire in the ground circuit harness could overheat and melt a connector. If this happens, the engine may stall and you may not be able to restart it. Safety Risk: A loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to an authorized DTNA Service Facility to replace the ground wire harness.

Issue: On certain trucks, the warning light for the anti-lock brake system (ABS) may not turn on when there is a system fault. As a result, the driver may not get warning that the ABS and automatic traction control (ATC) systems are turned off. Safety Risk: If a driver is not warned that the ABS and ATC systems are not working, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to an International dealer to update the software for the body control module (BCM).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the driver and/or front passenger seat belt pretensioner(s) may not work as designed in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt pretensioner that does not work properly in a crash could cause an increased risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Ford dealer to inspect the production date of the driver and front passenger seat belt assemblies. If the date is within the identified range, the dealer will replace the seat belt assembly.

Issue: On certain 2500 and 3500 series trucks, over time, the hood latch could fail. If this happens, the hood may open suddenly while driving. Note: This recall is for trucks that may have been serviced with a replacement hood assembly containing the same defect as that in Transport Canada recall no. 2020-097. Safety Risk: If the hood opens while driving, it could block the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the hood assembly. For hoods sold as replacement parts, dealers will contact the customers directly with instructions for hood replacement.
