Peter Hempenstall biography
Director of Outreach
NTEA – The Association for the Work Truck Industry
(Farmington Hills, Michigan)
Peter Hempenstall became NTEA director of outreach in 2018. In this role, Peter makes connections with Association members and those in the commercial vehicle community at large, getting perspective on the challenges they face and pointing them toward available resources.
During his career of 35-plus years, Peter has served in many different capacities. In 1982, he joined Premier Industrial Corporation (manufacturer of specialty sealants and a variety of other automotive-related products) as sales manager. He transitioned to the sales team at NCH Corporation (international provider of industrial, commercial, and institutional maintenance products and services) in 1997. Two years later, he took a position as zone manager at Reading Truck Group, where he managed a distributor network covering 13 states in the Southeast. In the late 1990s, he became director of sales and marketing at Manning Equipment LLC, primarily focused on building a national sales team and implementing a new Ford Motor Company ship-thru operation intended to transfer thousands of upfitted SuperDuty trucks to major fleets around the U.S. Peter returned to Reading as national sales manager in 2000, becoming vice president of sales and marketing two years later. While there, his primary objective was building a comprehensive strategic growth plan for national fleets and utilities. He worked directly with Ford, General Motors and Dodge to increase sales through chassis pools. In 2007, Peter began working for Altec Industries, assisting establishment of the company’s Bodies Division with all major electric and gas utilities; electrical contractors; and state, county and municipal governments throughout the Northeast and the cities of Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit and Chicago. Prior to joining NTEA, Peter supported development of two small businesses that his wife and son manage.
