Published in the January 2019 issue of Washington Update

The 116th Congress was sworn in on January 3, 2019, amidst an ongoing partial federal government shutdown.  The shutdown affects two agencies of particular interest to the work truck industry – the Environmental Protection Agency and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The newly-divided Congress sees the House of Representatives controlled by one party (235D-198R) and the Senate by another (53R-45D-2I). One issue that both parties have indicated they would like to see approved by this Congress is infrastructure reform.
