Electronic Stability Control Systems
This Standard applies to passenger cars, multipurpose passenger
vehicles, trucks and buses with a GVWR of 4,536 kg (10,000 lbs) or less,
according to a phase-in schedule that started Sept. 1, 2008, with vehicles
manufactured in two or more stages or that are altered (within the meaning of 49
CFR 567.7) which must comply with this standard on or after Sept. 1, 2012. This
Standard establishes performance and equipment requirements for electronic
stability control (ESC) systems.
