Transport Canada Recall # 2019189
Units Affected: 205
Category Light: Truck & Van
Recall details
A software problem could make it impossible to turn off the high-beam headlights using the switch lever. This problem only affects certain vans with the high-beam assist option. Note: If this happens, the high-beams can be turned off by turning the headlight switch from the "automatic headlights" position to the "manual headlights" position, or by re-starting the van. Safety Risk: High-beam lights that stay on could cause glare and reduce visibility for oncoming traffic. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your van to a dealer to update the body controller software.

On certain 4x4 trucks, the rear driveshaft may not have been properly welded. As a result a weld could break and cause the driveshaft to detach from the truck. If the vehicle was in rear wheel drive mode, this would cause a loss of propulsion. Safety Risk: A driveshaft that detaches could result in a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driveshaft that separates from the truck could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the rear driveshaft with one that is properly welded.
